Athletics


Classes and leagues for various sports are offered to adults and revised seasonally. Most programs are held at the Community Center with the exception of some league games and curling. Gym rentals are available.

Facility Usage:  You may use the gym, racquetball, paddleball, squash, and wallyball courts on a drop-in basis, or on a membership pass. A variety of leagues are available for all age and skill levels. Climbing Wall available at a reasonable fee. Call x2261 for more information.

Curling: Enjoy the newest Olympic sport, a team game of finesse and fitness played on ice. Forty-two pound granite curling stones are delivered down a 140 foot sheet of ice towards a target. Two team members slide beside the stone and sweep the ice to make the stone slide further. Curling is held at the Midland Curling Center, 2009 Jefferson. Basketball: 2nd through 12th grade leagues offered in fall/winter. 3rd through 12th grades 4-on-4 leagues offered in winter/spring. Classes and clinics offered periodically throughout the year to 3-15 year olds. Please call Ryan at 832-7937 x2261 for more information.

Volleyball: Classes and clinics offered for 3rd grade through adult. Individual and team classes are available. Adult men, women, coed and 4's leagues offered at different times, Sept. through May. Contact Kristin Eddy at 832-7937 x2263 for more information.

Referee Clinics: Officiating clinics for volleyball, youth and adult basketball are available in the fall.

First Time Climber Cost:
Belay classes offered the 2nd Friday of every month for $10.00. Or take a private belay class for $25.
Belay orientations can be arranged by appointment.
Climbing Fees
*Teen Night (with ID): $4.00 per climber
Birthday Parties - $100/up to 10 participants; $5 per additional participant.
The Climbing Wall staff reserves the right to close the facility early if there is no climbing wall activity by 2:30 PM.

Court Sports: Racquetball, Paddleball, Squash and Wallyball leagues are offered at different times throughout the year. Private and semi-private lessons.

Court Usage Policy:
    1. Eligible individuals may make one reservation, but may use as many drop-in hours as are available. Each hour used must be marked on the court sheets.
    2. A person may make reservations for other individuals provided they have names and phone numbers and if it is a collect or pre-paid situation. Limit of two courts per call or visit - one reservation per name.
    3. Reservations may be made one day in advance and up to one hour prior to court time for the $2 reservation fee. Advance reservations are free with a Court Membership.
    4. Youth under ninth grade may use the courts on a drop-in basis only. Youth drop in is free from 2:30 - 4:30 PM weekdays.
    5. Rate structure: All customers must pay fee.
      a. $6.50 Adult daily customer fee
      b. $4.50 Youth daily customer fee (eye guards required)
      c. $2.00 one day advanced reservation fee.
      d. $4.00 block time per week. Fall-10 weeks, Winter-12 weeks. No prorating.
      e. Single Activity Membership - $401 Annually
      f. Multi-Activity Membership - $509 Annually
    6. Participants provide their own equipment or rent from the Welcome Center(for a fee of $2 plus a $5 deposit which is refunded upon return, in good condition, of the racquet and/or ball and/or eye guards). $2 rental fee may not be taken out of the $5 deposit.
    7. Center Leagues and Tournaments may reserve the courts two days in advance for no additional reservation fee.
    8. All participants must stop and register at the Welcome Center before using a court.
    9. The basic time unit is one hour on the hour in the AM and on the 1/2 hour in the PM
    10. Courts must be vacated 1/2 hour before the building closes.
    11. Reservation fee may be used for one court for one hour per day.
    12. Wallyball: It is our intent to use courts 6 and 10 for wallyball first, then 1, 3, and 11 if needed. Each player pays one of the above fees. There is a $5 deposit on the wallyball equipment which is returned when the equipment is returned.
    13. Courts are rented for racquetball, squash, paddleball and wallyball only unless prior arrangements are made.
